Kathleen - Weeks 3 & 4

Thursday at 11:08 PM Kathleen turned 4 weeks old. I've completely slacked off about posting photos of her, so I'll try to do better over the next couple weeks! Here are a few pictures of Katie's recent activities.

Katie really likes sleeping on her tummy, but we only allow her to do so while on our chests where we can monitor her breathing. As you can tell, she's out cold in the picture below.
I have NO idea why, but Katie really likes her changing table. This one was taken a little over a week ago...I feel like she's alot bigger now. The two pictures below were taken on Thursday when Katie turned 4 weeks old!!!

Saturday was Katie first VT football game. I thought I should get a couple pictures of her in her VT onesie to mark the event. Unfortunately, I didn't purchase any VT outfits in a newborn size so the 0-3 months one is a little large on her. Oh well, she will grow into it!Here she is dancing with Daddy. She loves to look up at Matt while he sings and talks to her. Its SO CUTE!

This is our little flower power baby.....Thank you Aunt Annie for this super cute outfit! The picture below is one of my favorites. Katie and Daddy napping together! :-)

Kathleen - Week 2

This past week we celebrated Matt's graduation at a brunch with our family and had our first few visitors. We also had Katie's 2 week appointment. She weighed in at 6 lbs 7 oz (12 %), 19.5 inches long (25%) and 13.25 inches in head circumferences (12%). This was the first week that Matt and I were flying solo with Katie, as my parents left last Sunday. To help us out Aunt Katherine organized meals for us for the week. Thank you to everyone who brought food...its been WONDERFUL not to have to worry about cooking! Pictures of the week are below. Enjoy! The four generations of Barnes'.

Some friends come for a visit....

Kathleen's First Week

Its been a busy first week for Kathleen Marie. She met several members of the family, had her first bath, watched her daddy graduate from his Radiography program. Below are a few pictures marking her milestones for week 1.

First - we met our grandparents and a few aunts and uncles.
In the picture below you can see Claire helping dress her cousin Katie. She looked at her mom and said "put hat on baby." Too cute! Below is a picture of the cradle that Popa built for Matthew. Its being put to use by the second generation Barnes now. Here are a couple pictures after her first bath. Let's just say she was a bit more cooperative after the bath than during.

Kathleen Marie Barnes

On August 6th, 2009 at 11:08 PM Kathleen Marie Barnes arrived! Kathleen weighed 5 lbs. and 13 ounces and measured 19 inches long. Its been an extremely busy couple of days but mom, dad, and little Katie are home now and doing well. Thank you to everyone for you phone calls and emails of congratulations. Below are a few pictures from Katie's birth and her first few days. She has absolutely melted our hearts...

The photos below were taken by the hospital's professional photography service. Let's just say our personal photos aren't quite as nice as these! :-)

In the photo below Kathleen is about 15 minutes old! You may notice that she is mid scream...not too happy initially about entering her new world (ignore how tired mommy and daddy look...it was a long day!) . One of the funniest things about our birth story is that the doctor said "she looks exactly like her dad" before I had even seen her myself. Once I saw her though I had to agree. She is definitely daddy's little girl!

Charlie Comes for a Visit!!!

This week Matt and I are dog-sitting Charlie while Rob and Katherine are enjoying a wonderful week in Riviera Maya (their 5 year anniversary trip). We've really enjoyed playing and having Charlie this week....particularly evening walks and playing fetch with the tennis ball.

As you can see from the picture below, Charlie enjoyed playing in the back yard and sniffing all sorts of new smells. He also got to know the dogs next door....though they only got to play through the fence.

We had a hard time keeping Charlie in the bathroom one evening, so Matt suggested we just loop his leash to the faucet. It worked! :-)

Today we turned Charlie over to Grandma Mason (or Mimi as Claire calls her) and Claire. Below you can see that Claire enjoyed playing in our chair while we were visiting.

The Nursery

Matt and I have been working the last couple months on putting together the nursery for Baby Barnes. Its still a bit of a work in progress, but below you can see a few pictures.
We still need to pick out her name - and put letters on the wall, picture frames, and baskets for the changing table. Matt says its more pink than he ever thought he would see in any room in his house. I told him we could change it to Orange and Maroon....my first choice for nursery colors. He decided Pink was okay after all.... :-)

Babymoon 2009 - Topsail, NC

Matt and I spent Memorial Day weekend in Topsail, NC. Since I'll be limited on my travel from June onward, this will probably our last getaway as a family of 2 instead of a family of 3! The trip was great and we couldn't have asked for better weather. Below are a few pictures....you can all see that the baby belly is growing! At 28 weeks and counting, we are officially in the 3rd trimester now.

Who can resist ice cream at the beach??? Here are Matt and I enjoying a cone after dinner...
